Spirituality
Spirituality is a
very important part of life, however there are so
many opinions, dogmas and creeds that finding truth can
appear to be hard. So many claim that their way is right,
and some resort to violence or other unpleasant
tactics if you do not believe according to their
doctrine.
My view is that if you are a genuine seeker
of truth with a passion for finding it, and not tied to your
own opinions or the societal archetypes which can be so
oppressive; then you will find it.
Down the years I have put a lot of effort
into learning about spirituality and at one time was even a
church minister. I have studied the Torah & Talmud,
the Bible, the Koran and other mainstream religious texts
and doctrines, as well as the more unusual such
as Shamanism. I have also looked into what
happens in the afterlife.
Along the way I have learned many things and
found that one of the most valuable things to remember is to
have an open mind that is not tied to its own opinions, but
rather one which seeks objective truth; even if it is
"uncomfortable". I find that many contradictory teachings can
be made to sound so convincing - and yet simple truth logic
tells us that they cannot all be right.
Many people don't believe in the paranormal
for example - and I didn't either earlier in my life. Along the
way I have discovered, among other things, that some of the
security/intelligence services and even Police forces have at
times been involved with this area. These are of course people
who are heavily grounded in finding out the facts/truth; even
if they don't always disseminate truth to the public.
Sowing and reaping is a key aspect of life,
whether we believe in it or not - it is a natural law. That
said, there are many and varied interpretations of this
concept, ranging from the Wiccan three fold law of return (which I
do not subscribe to as it has a key spiritual logic
flaw) to more "mundane" ideas. On a personal note, I
think it better to do the right thing because you
enjoy it, or love the idea, rather than to receive a reward
or avoid a penalty.
I think that as it is clear that there is
some kind of afterlife; it is wise to seek out understanding -
we plan for our holidays...perhaps we should spend more time
seeking spiritual truth?
"I find it fascinating that most people
plan their vacations with better care than they plan their
lives. Perhaps that is because escape is easier than
change." -- Jim Rohn
